Hi, I'm

Joleen Bingham

Speaker, Entrepreneur, Mentor and Author of Built in the Chaos

One phone call split my life into before and after. Overnight, I was holding everything: the kids, the businesses, and a hundred decisions I never saw coming. No one was going to show up with a plan and no one was coming to rescue me.

Life didn’t pause for me to get it all together, so I had to lead anyway, before I felt ready and long before anything made sense. Built in the Chaos is what that season taught me, written for the woman who is still waiting for things to calm down before she moves.

Who this is for

I wrote this book for you.

Not the version of you who has it all figured out, but the one who’s still awake at 11 p.m. worrying about everything and anything long after everyone has gone to sleep.

You’re the one holding it together in public and silently falling apart when no one’s looking. You show up steady for your team, your kids and your clients, and you scroll past women in your circle who all seem to be handling life better than you are. Nobody would guess how much it’s costing you.

I know her well, because for a long time she was me.

So hear me on this: you’re not behind, and you’re not broken. You’re being built.

Built in the Chaos

How the Hardest Seasons Shape the Strongest Leaders

This book isn't going to tell you to slow down, simplify, or find balance. It's not going to hand you a silver lining before you've been inside the dark. And it's not going to fix you, because you are not broken. It's going to show you what your season of chaos is building.

I call it the Built in the Chaos Filter, and it all comes down to answering four questions:

  1. What matters most in this specific season?

When everything feels important, everything feels urgent.

  2. What gives me energy versus what drains it?

You don't have a problem managing the calendar. You have an energy problem.

  3. What am I saying yes to that deserves a no?

In the chaos, no is not a failure of leadership. Sometimes it is how you protect what matters.

  4. How do I move forward when nothing feels clear?

Clarity is found on the other side of action, not before it.

My story

I thought the hard part was behind me. It wasn’t.

I started out as a high school chemistry teacher. Yes, really. I spent my days convincing teenagers the periodic table was interesting, and I still think like a teacher. If it doesn’t make sense, I’ll break it down until it does.

Then I fell into business and never looked back. Over the past ten years, I’ve bought and built multiple businesses, coached hundreds of owners, led a high-level mastermind, and spoken on stages here and overseas. Along the way, I helped dozens of business owners become millionaires.

From the outside, it looked like I had it all figured out: a house full of kids, businesses I loved, and a life I’d spent years building.

Overnight, everything I thought I could count on changed. Life didn’t pause, so I kept showing up. I’d smile on a Zoom call, coach someone through whatever they were stuck on, then close my laptop and sit alone in my office. One Wednesday it hit me: I’d just spent an hour giving someone advice I wasn’t willing to take myself. That’s when I stopped asking, “How do I hold all of this together?” and started asking, “What actually matters right now?” That question became the Built in the Chaos Filter. It worked for me, and I want to walk you through it too.

That’s also why my business partner, Anastasia Bennett, and I created Lead Through the Noise. It takes everything in this book off the page and into real life, with live events, retreats, and a community of women leading through their own hard seasons. Every week on the podcast, we have the honest conversations most women only have in their heads.

And life outside of work? I’m a mom of three, and we’re getting ready for our biggest adventure yet. My kids and I are going to worldschool our way through different countries while we figure out where we’ll land next.
